While planning a walk with the morning stars, a common concern that arises is: “What is the difficulty level of the trek?” Factors such as your altitude, the specific route, your previous trekking experience, and how well you adapt to higher altitudes play a role.
At Morning Star Treks, we believe that all trekkers should have the information they need to make the right choice and thus enjoy the journey. For this reason, we break down the travel difficulties below.
Trek difficulty is defined by the physical challenge that is presented along the route. It includes the walking distance, number of days allocated to the trek, altitude, weather, and the type of terrain.
Some walks, for example, can be very simple, while others may take a long time with steep and high altitudes. Knowing and being aware of difficulty levels allows you to mitigate certain risks and be fully prepared, choosing a walk to your liking.
Easy treks are perfect for families, beginners, or individuals looking to venture out for a good light workout. In these treks, walking for about 4 to 5 hours is a daily feature. The altitudes are low with a well-defined, steady, gentle climbing, as marked paths, they are a workaround for high altitudes and less risk for altitude sickness.
Moderate treks are a bit more difficult and demand decent fitness. You may spend 5 to 7 hours walking and may need to navigate descending and ascending steeper hills. The elevation gain is 3,000 meters or over, so you may need to adjust your hiking pace.
Challenging Treks are meant for true adventurers. These treks often exceed 4,000 meters and require 7 to 9 hours of walking. These treks present a test of endurance with challenging elevation, long hours of walking, steep ascents and descents, and rugged terrain, including snow-covered paths.
You must have considerable experience before attempting these kinds of treks, and they are not for newcomers. They usually have strict weather conditions and isolated regions of 5,000 meters or more in the mountains.
Here at Morning Star Treks, we guarantee that you will be guided throughout the process. We help you select the most appropriate trek based on your physical condition. Our guides keep a comfortable pace so you don’t feel hurried.
