The Khopra Danda Trek 9 Days is known by many names, including Khopra Ridge trek and Khayer Lake Trek. This 9-day journey to the Annapurna highlands is one of the best options for those who love secluded and remote trekking experiences. It is one of the best alternatives to Annapurna Base Camp, or the standard Circuit Trek, which is one of the most popular and somewhat crowded trekking destinations.
This off-the-beaten-path trek takes you to the absolutely stunning Khayar Lake and also the gorgeous Poon Hill viewpoint, from where you will experience a scenic sunrise view. Passing by beautiful Rhododendron forests, alpine vegetation, and temples, we will reach Khopra Danda at 3660 meters above sea level. This is the base for the hike to Khayar Lake, which is a sacred body of water for Hindu and Buddhist followers.
The Khopra Danda Trek 9 Days takes place within the Annapurna Conservation Area, offering a diverse set of vegetation and ecosystem running from dense forested areas to wide open ridgelines with views of the entire surrounding area. Along the way, you might encounter some wildlife such as Pheasants, Himalayan Tahr, wild cats, rodents, etc. The Annapuran region has been a hotspot for tekkers since the 50s, but there are still destinations such as Khayar Lake that have yet to be in the limelight.
Along with the natural scenery, you will also get to experience the lives of the locals, their culture, and their practices. The route passes by many Gurung and Magar villages that showcase authentic local culture with traditional lifestyle. Their hospitality is one of the best in the country, and you will get to taste a bunch of their organic dishes, sourced locally.
At present, the Khopra Danda Trek has been gaining popularity, but not to the point that the trails are crowded. You can still experience an intimate trekking journey with stunning scenes from Muldai Viewpoint, Poon Hill Viewpoint, and along the route. This easy trek is an ideal setting for beginners, reaching a maximum height of 4600 meters at the Khayar Lake.

En route, we will pass Naubise, Malekhu, Kurintar, Dumre, and Lekhnath to finally reach our destination of the day.

Most people prefer the spring season since the landscape is more lush and wild flowers bloom beautifully, adding a touch of color to the dominantly green hills and brown landscape.
Likewise, the autumn season is preferred by many for its very minimal rainfall, peak visibility in the air, and an overall dry period, meaning no slippery and wet trails. This season is also the festive season in Nepal, offering you many chances to experience a traditional celebration in either the city area or the villages of Annapurna.
The difficulty of the Khopra Danda Trek 9 Days is moderate to easy. Depending on the experience level of the trekkers, it can feel either easy or moderate. However, on a general scale, our trek experts have rated it a 6.5 out of 10. The trails are free of technical climbs, and there are no leg-killing ascents that require high physical performance.
