Do you know that the Annapurna Circuit trek conceals one of the most spectacular trekking peaks that radiates an irresistible charm that calls those who have conquered it to return again and again? Morning Star Treks gladly introduces you to the Pisang Peak climbing expedition, a journey to the sublime peak that rises to 6091 m elevation.
The peak is strategically positioned between the Manaslu (8163 m) and Annapurna I (8091 m) in the Manang district of western Nepal. The peak gained international recognition in 1955 when J. Wellenkamp from the German expedition team successfully reached its summit for the first time.
Since this historic moment, the Pisang Peak climbing expedition has become one of the most favorite peak climbing journeys in the Annapurna region that still draws adventurers from all over the world.
And why not, after all, the Pisang Peak is also an astonishing natural lookout point to see the outshining picture-perfect sights of Kanguru, Tilicho, Annapurna, Gyaji Kang, Ganesh, Nawal, Manaslu, Kuchubhro, and Chulu East.
Aside from the thrilling peak ascent, a remarkable aspect of the Pisang Peak climbing expedition is the climb to the world’s highest Himalayan pass, Thorong La pass (5416 m), that separates you from the lower Mustang trail of Kali Gandaki Valley.
Then, at the end of the journey, you will journey beside the world’s deepest Kali Gandaki gorge, embrace the sanctity of Muktinath, and return through the idyllic city of Pokhara to Kathmandu.
During your Pisang Peak climbing with Annapurna circuit expedition, you will also come across the energetic ethnic tribes of the Sherpas, Magars, Tamangs, Gurungs, and Thakalis, who will enthusiastically share their ancient Buddhist beliefs and traditions with you.
Thus, the allure of the Pisang Peak climbing expedition lies not only in its delightful vistas but also in the stunning landscape and vibrant culture that envelop it.
The Pisang Peak climbing expedition, however, demands moderate mountaineering skills and good physical fitness from you. If you are the one with a spirit of adventure, then surely, you will cherish each moment of our Pisang Peak climbing adventure.

Every climber participating in our Pisang Peak climbing expedition wants to reach the summit successfully. For the optimum success in the expedition, we recommend you engage in the Pisang Peak climbing itinerary in the Nepali autumn months between September to November and the Nepali spring between March and May.
These seasons have very mild temperatures, making the trekking journey easy. The spectacles are excellent, making your walk very worthwhile, and the trail reaching the summit is devoid of harsh conditions, thus ensuring your maximum reach on the summit.
The Pisang Peak climbing during the Nepali winter months, appearing between December and February, should be attempted only by experienced adventurers.
While the Nepali summer time between June and August is also a high rainy time, which is therefore best to avoid.
The Pisang Peak climbing adventure is considered a mid-level alpine mountaineering expedition in Annapurna, while the summit itself is regarded as a trekking summit rated as PD+
The climbing is technically easy, while the usage of jumars and crampons may be needed on the last 45 to 50 degrees slope of the summit. The Pisang Peak climbing, therefore, does need you to be an expert or possess any climbing experience. And, the technical section can be overcome by the lessons offered by our climbing guide during your stay at base camp and advanced camp.
As for the trekking route of the Pisang Peak climbing with the Annapurna Circuit, it poses a moderate challenge. The highest challenge will come from the Thorong La Pass, the world’s highest hiking mountain pass.
The placement of very pleasant tea houses on the rugged terrain, however, makes the trip very comforting. Pisang Peak climbing expedition, therefore, suits all kinds of climbers: from beginner to seasoned.
The possibility of AMS in our Pisang Peak climbing trip is quite there and also real. At 5000 m altitude, the oxygen amount is about 50 percent less than at sea level, so our bodies will find it difficult to get adjust to this decreased oxygen volume.
Thus, Morning Star treks have incorporated a time for acclimatization in Upper Pisang, followed by a short duration of trek till High Camp. Some climbers may need more time than others to get used to changing air and so may demonstrate the initial signs of AMS, such as trouble sleeping and breathing, fatigue, confusion, and headache.
Hydrating adequately and getting enough sleep are the best possible remedies. Please trust the judgment of our experienced guide if they decide to take you down for one or two days.
For quick and safe adaptation to the new environment, Diamox can also help, but there should not be any contraindications.
Adapting a very active and healthy lifestyle three to four months before the Pisang Peak climbing trip is very essential as the trip mixes the adventure of both mountaineering and hiking.
You can begin with cardio health, then build up strength, and then endurance. Regular day-to-day activities such as walking, running, swimming, and cycling will help you in these.
Gradually, you can then add stair climbing, lunges, squats, planks, and weight lifting as well. It will be a bonus if you also learn rock climbing. Since there will be two added challenges of the summit and the Thorong La Pass, we suggest you take the Annapurna Circuit first and then attempt Pisang Peak climbing with Annapurna Circuit.
A twin-sharing room with two single large beds in a three-star hotel in Kathmandu and Pokhara will be available to you during our Pisang Peak climbing expedition.
On the trek along the Annapurna circuit trail, you will sleep in the excellent tea houses with clean rooms and a private toilet (when available).
In each tea house, you will have a cozy communal dining area and delicious meals.
Regarding food arrangements, there is nothing to complain about as delicious and highly nutritious breakfasts will be served when you are in Kathmandu and Pokhara, while all meals will be served three times in a day at tea houses.
At the base and the advanced camps of the Pisang Peak, a two-person durable and cold-resistant tent will be set up with individual tents for cooking and a latrine.
Our crew members will always prepare fresh, clean, and hygienic meals for you.
You can also choose to enhance your stays in Pokhara and Kathmandu to a single room, deluxe rooms, or to a four and five-star luxury hotel at an added fee.
Morning Star Treks’ private 4 by 4 pick-up and drop-off service will be available to you for your transport between TIA and the hotel, and also for the Kathmandu guided excursion.
A luxury tourist bus will ride you to Besisahar from Kathmandu and from Pokhara to Kathmandu, while you will have an exciting public bus experience during your drive between Muktinath and Pokhara. A shared local Indian Jeep will be used for a short transfer to Chame.
At an extra fee, you can also choose to fly for a very short time from Pokhara to Kathmandu or from Jomsom to Pokhara.
A steady mobile connection through the NCELL or NTC will be available to you all the way of the Annapurna Circuit trek trail. However, a signal loss may be frequent at the base and the high camp of the Pisang summit.
As for the WiFi, the tea houses along the Annapurna Circuit route will be able to provide you with a good connection of WiFi, but expect to pay an extra in situ fee.
During the camp accommodation, you may not get the WiFi, and also the 4G signal of the local phone network. Our team will have a satellite phone, though, for any urgent communications.
If you want to reach the top of the Pisang Peak, then you must have the climbing permit that authorizes your expedition from the Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA).
Based on the time you choose to attack the Pisang peak, this permit cost will vary. Such as its US Dollars 70 per climber for the winter and summer expedition, while USD 125 per climber for the autumn expedition, and USD 250 per climber for the spring expedition.
Since we also have to trek all the trail of Annapurna Circuit as well, we also need to possess the ACAP Permit (3000 NPR per hiker) that authorizes our trekking inside the Annapurna Conservation Area Project.
The TIMS Card, which stands for the Trekkers Information Management System (2000 NPR per hiker), is another prerequisite for the Pisang Peak climbing with Annapurna Circuit.
As your trusted and chosen travel agency in Nepal, Morning Star Treks will see to the timely procurement of all these permits on your behalf.
We understand getting travel insurance is the least exciting part of your international trip. However, it cannot be neglected if you intend to climb any peak in Nepal, whether you are trekking or climbing a summit.
Please understand, without your insurance policy, we will not be able to get the climbing as well as the hiking permit prerequisite for the Pisang Peak climbing expedition.
Besides, travel insurance is that companion that will secure you from the financial losses that may occur on any mountain expedition in Nepal. The Himalayas are famous for their calming beauty, but they are also infamous for their changing temperament.
From serious AMS to minor cuts that may soon turn into severe infection, anything can happen, for which Helicopter transport remains the only option due to the inaccessibility of the road network.
For our Pisang Peak climbing trip, the right insurance policy will be the one that covers the helicopter evacuation up to 6100 m altitude.
Morning Star Treks has included all your activities, excursions, transfers, entrance fees, and permits in its Pisang Peak climbing trip total cost. However, your personal expenditure (like drinks, tips, souvenirs, WiFi, hot shower, charging, extra days, insurance, international air tickets, Nepal visa) and a few meals in Kathmandu and Pokhara will be at your own cost.
